ABOUT THE PLEIN AIR GALLERY

The term "Plein air" refers to a style of art in which a painting is done on-site, outdoors, viewing the actual scene being painted (en plein air is French for outdoors). This style was named in the late nineteenth century, an era when most paintings were done in a studio, based on sketches and notes the artist had made previously, on site.

The Plein Air Studio-Gallery is located in Garrapata Canyon, off Highway One between Carmel and Big Sur, California.

We invite interested people to visit the studio, to view the paintings and to enjoy a cup of tea with us. We can be contacted by email at tom@tomdavies.com or by snailmail at 35809 Hwy One, Monterey CA 93940,
or by telephone at (831) 625-3607.
